Thought for the day

More of a realisation than a thought. I got through a lot this weekend. All the usual domestic stuff that all families get done: shopping, cleaning, tidying, cooking (quiche is packed for kids lunches tomorrow!), and kids weekend sport. Even found time to organise Cara to start playing netball – something she’d been asking about for a little while. We drove around and checked out the park where they play, it all looks good.

Anyway, the things on my list that didn’t get done were the same things that have been on my list for a while and don’t tend to get done. They’re the less important things, doesn’t matter too much if they slip. Eventually I’ll get around to them, or pay someone else to get them done. Or they sometimes get done by my wonderful parents and/or Mary’s parents (thank you). Things like trimming the hedges in the front garden, mowing, tidying up junk in the garage, washing the car, sweeping the driveway. Nothing too urgent.

My realisation was this: these non-urgent, less important tasks around the house – they used to be my weekend jobs; while Mary did pretty much everything else! So Mary if you can see me now, sorry that I perhaps didn’t thank you as often as I could of, and yes… you did tell me so.
